Leadership and Project Management Courses

Project Planning and Management Course
An introductory course, consisting of six, two hour workshop-style sessions. The course aimed to develop project planning and management skills to enable participants to build successful business and community development projects.

Session 1: The IDEA
Being an entrepreneur: Developing an idea, assessing the need, defining the aims, goals and actions.

Session 2: The MARKET
Defining, understanding and capturing your market.

Session 3: The MONEY
Budgeting, accounting, legal requirements and risk management.

Session 4: The DOING
Procurement, production, distribution, and monitoring + evaluation.

Session 5: The PEOPLE
Staff and volunteers: Recruiting, managing (including training and motivating) and reviewing.

Session 6: The PLAN
Opportunity to re-cap, address other issues, and learn how to write a project plan.


Planning and Managing a Community Development Project

An introductory course, consisting of six, two hour workshop-style sessions. The course aimed to develop project planning and management skills to enable participants to establish successful community development projects.

Session 1: Developing an idea

Session 2: Nurturing stakeholder relationships

Session 3: Issues of accountability and sustainability

Session 4: Mobilizing volunteers

Session 5: Monitoring and evaluation

Session 6: Writing a project plan


The Busolwe Leadership Forum
A series of stand-alone  leadership workshops that took place at the Busolwe Public Library. 

Day 1: Painting pictures, defining reality, and creating maps (an introduction to leadership)

Day 2: Leading a team of star players

Day 3: Effective Communication


Library Scholar Training
The Busolwe Public Library sponsers a few young people through school, in return they volunteer at the library. I led a short series of ‘essential skills’ workshops.
